Charleston Love Story – Original Poem

By Mark A. Leon

Torn by this Southern sky, between sun and moon
Dancing in the moonlight
Making love to the rising sun in the back of my pick-up truck

Nothing but my white tee-shirt and your bikini top keeping us from this summer heat

I’m from the other side of the tracks, but our love is right on track

Two young Southern lovers careless and free
Wild like the stallions
Wholesome as a willow tree

With nothing but Luke Bryan on the radio and a Folly sunset in my dreams
I want to rock your world, my precious Southern girl

Tip that cowboy hat, kick that two step and away we go
Sunflowers up to our knees and an orchestra of church bells all around
Our prom in the country

Take my hand and enter this V8 carriage
Driving from the coastal waters to the cotton fields with the top down and the wind cooling our faces
We are infinite

It’s an endless journey down Highway 26 to the curves of the Savannah coastal
Nothing can go wrong with my Southern charm by my side

At night, when the thunder roars and the lightning strikes, we will be naked under the sheets, with you by my side
Laughing and kissing until the night tames our souls

You will be mine forever
Under the Lord’s sky, I pledge my love to you
I’ll work the land to give you a castle
With dirt between these toes, I’ll show you a world of magic

A house on the water
Honeymoon in the mountains
Touching the clouds like angels in the sky

And when we’re old and grey sitting on the front porch, I’m gonna remember my country girl like the day we met

Eyes so blue
Hair as gold as the sunlight
Wholesome and free
A dreamer, more beautiful than a thousand roses

Once again, with this feeble soul on bended knee I will promise this, “I’m so blessed to have found a love like this”

Spread the love
