The Citadel Bulldogs Football Team Announce Home-and-Home Series with North Dakota State

CHARLESTON, S.C. – On Tuesday, The Citadel announced a home-and-home series with North Dakota State that will begin in 2025. The Bulldogs will host the Bison on Aug. 30, 2025, before making the return trip to Fargo, North Dakota on Sept. 18, 2027.

“This series will be great for our football program and our institution,” said head coach Maurice Drayton. “These games will be a good barometer of where our program stacks up against the elite programs in the FCS. For us to be a championship level team, these are the games we are going to need to play and win.”

The game against the Bison inside Johnson Hagood Stadium will serve as the season opener, marking the first time the Bulldogs open the season at home since 2019. It will be the first meeting between the two teams.

“The Citadel is very excited to be entering into a home-and-home series with one of the top FCS programs in the country,” said director of athletics Mike Capaccio. “I believe our fans will be looking forward to hosting a game against NDSU.”

The Citadel opens the 2023 season on Sept. 2 at FBS Georgia Southern.

Just how old are the buildings that house some of your favorite Charleston, SC restaurants?

Charleston, South Carolina is known for its rich culinary history and has several oldest restaurants that have been serving traditional Lowcountry cuisine for decades. Here are some of the oldest restaurants locations in Charleston, SC:

Husk – Husk was established in 2010, but it is located in a historic building that dates back to the late 19th century. Husk’s structures date back to the late 1800s. The main dining room, constructed in 1893, evokes the grandeur of Charleston, and speaks to the transformation of the city over time.
Fleet Landing – Fleet Landing is housed in a historic 1940s naval building, making it one of the oldest waterfront restaurants in Charleston. It has been serving seafood dishes since 2003.
Poogan’s Porch – Poogan’s Porch has been serving Southern cuisine in downtown Charleston since 1976. The building that houses the restaurant was built in 1888.
Circa 1886 – This exquisite restaurant is a part of the Wentworth Mansion built in 1886 by Francis Silas Rodgers, a wealthy cotton factor, phosphate manufacturer and coastwise shipper .
The Ordinary – The Ordinary is located in a former bank building that was built in 1927 and has been serving seafood since 2012.
82 Queen – 82 Queen has been serving Southern cuisine in a historic 1860s building since 1982.
Blind Tiger – Housed in a building constructed in 1803, the Blind Tiger was a home away from home since it first opened its doors in the late eighties. From the beginning, the pub was a place where the people of Charleston could take a break from the realities of the lives.

Mount Pleasant, SC Performs Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for Bohemian Bull

Mount Pleasant, S.C. – Owners Richard Thomasson and Doug Oyer with restaurant staff, joined by Councilmembers John Iacofano, Jake Rambo, and Howard Chapman P.E., partnering with Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce President Emeritus Chris Staubes and Chamber Board Members, celebrated the grand opening of Bohemian Bull with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The new business is located at 2668 North Highway 17.

Bohemian Bull is a new restaurant in town where family and friends can eat and relax in a lively atmosphere. They specialize in varying plates of seafood, fried chicken, burgers, sandwiches, salads, and more – all with a selection of craft beers, hand-selected bourbons, and world-class cocktails. Here is a pro tip from the locals: Wednesdays are “half-off burger days” at Bohemian Bull for dine-in only.

The new restaurant features a large outdoor seating area under a majestic oak tree where guests can enjoy live music with their meals and drinks. The Harbor Entrepreneur Center Returns to Mount Pleasant with a 22,000 sq ft Facility

With major support from the Town of Mount Pleasant, the SCRA (South Carolina Research Authority), and Charleston County Economic Development the HEC is returning to Mount Pleasant with a 22,000 sq. ft. facility that will provide a collaborative space to inspire, educate and elevate entrepreneurial organizations, venture capital investment and innovation. The HEC in Mount Pleasant will create an entrepreneurial ecosystem for students, veterans, career changers and businesses to develop new enterprises and ideas to grow here in the Charleston region.

“The Town’s economic development strategy specifically calls for a focus on entrepreneurship and innovation. Our partnership with Harbor addresses this directly, and lets the world know that Mount Pleasant is the hub of innovation for South Carolina. We are excited for the companies coming over with HEC and look forward to collaborating with our stakeholders to recruit high-growth firms and create jobs in our community and region,” said Mount Pleasant Economic Development Manager Matt Brady.

The Harbor Entrepreneur Center was recently selected to serve as the Lead Agent for Innovation & Entrepreneurship, one of the areas of focus of the One Region Roadmap. The Roadmap provides a broad platform for the community to address economic challenges heightened by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as threats to our region’s prosperity and global competitiveness.

“Naming the Harbor Entrepreneur Center as the Lead Agent for Innovation & Entrepreneurship gives us the opportunity to take the foundation the HEC has built over the past 10 years and create a high-impact resource for the region. The Town of Mount Pleasant’s ability to immediately recognize this opportunity and provide us with financial support allowed us to quickly propel this project from vision to reality,” said HEC Executive Director Grady Johnson.

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C., On 5^th May 2023, Boeing celebrated with Her Royal Highness Princess Reema Bandar Al-Saud, Ambassador of The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United States, and leaders from Saudi carriers SAUDIA and Riyadh Air at Boeing South Carolina, following the March announcement for the two airlines to purchase a combined total of up to 121 787 Dreamliners.

Her Royal Highness Princess Reema Bandar Al-Saud, Captain Ibrahim Koshy, CEO of SAUDIA, and Tony Douglas, CEO of Riyadh Air, addressed more than 3,000 Boeing teammates and toured the 787 final assembly building.

Charleston, SC is a city with a rich and storied history, and there are many interesting and lesser-known facts about the city that most people may not be aware of. Here are a few examples:

Charleston was the site of the first public college in America. The College of Charleston was founded in 1770 and is still in operation today.
The city is home to the oldest public garden in America. The Magnolia Plantation and Gardens was established in 1676 and is open to the public for tours and events.
The first shot of the Civil War was fired in Charleston. On April 12, 1861, Confederate forces fired on Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor, marking the beginning of the Civil War.
The historic Charleston City Market is one of the oldest public markets in America. It has been in continuous operation since 1804.
Charleston is home to the only surviving antebellum fireproof building in the United States. The Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon was built in 1771 and was used as a military prison during the Revolutionary War.
The city has a long history of ghost stories and supernatural sightings. Many of the city’s historic buildings are said to be haunted, including the Old Jail and the Battery Carriage House Inn.
