Statement from Represetative JA Moore Following Announcement of $88 Million Settlement to Emanuel AME Families
CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA – October 28 – Following a settlement announced by the Department of Justice to the families and survivors of the 2015 Mother Emanuel AME Church shooting, State Representative JA Moore (D-Berkeley), the brother of one of the Emanuel 9, released the following statement:
“Financial restitution is not justice. Real justice will occur when the hate that drove Dylann Roof to commit that terrible act – which took away my sister – is driven from our society.
The Charleston loophole is still open. I will keep fighting to end it.”
