The Charleston Crab House is under new ownership

The Charleston Crab House team has announced that the restaurant group is under new ownership. Exciting adventures for all!

From Busboy to Owner

After 30-plus years of “‘Crackin’ crab legs” and serving southern hospitality, John Keener, a pioneer in the Charleston restaurant scene for over 40 years, is passing the torch to current CEO Scott Larymore.

Scott is a familiar face to many, having risen through the restaurant ranks beginning in 2005 as a busboy to CEO and now the owner of the 5 restaurant group. His dedication and work ethic exemplify the values that John has instilled in his team over the years.

Scott and his wife, Lauren, will now own and operate all five  locations: Charleston Crab House James Island, Charleston Crab House Market St, Oyster House, Shem Creek Crab House, AW Shucks Seafood Shack and The Porch event space. John will remain involved as an advisor and mentor, ensuring a smooth transition and continued success. Kim Jackson, 32 year CFO, will also remain in her current position.

John and his wife, Brandy, plan to enjoy their well-deserved transformation with traveling and savoring the fruits of their 40 years of service to the Charleston community. Maybe he will be really out “catching your dinner”.
