Charleston County Public Libary Partners to Offer Free Tax Service Provided to Local Area Residents

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Area residents can receive free help with their taxes at several CCPL branches through a project coordinated with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program, S.C. Thrive and the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP). A current picture ID and Social Security card are required, along with the Social Security cards of any dependents. Free brand-name tax preparation software is available for individuals and families with an income of $62,000 or less. Free online fillable forms are available for all income levels. Check the IRS site for details.
