Charleston’s Hottest Late Night Desserterie is Now Open on Upper King – The Honey Hive

Charleston, S.C.
— Charleston’s late night, elevated Desserterie, The Honey Hive, has been open for one month at 563 King St., offering both sweet and savory bites and a sophisticated craft cocktail list named after famous women throughout history like Rose Kennedy. The Honey Hive’s stunning interiors feature prints of a diversity of women from local artist Lucy Boland, along with a jaw-dropping dried floral chandelier in the “Bubble Room” from Willow Event Designs. Bachelorette groups, wedding parties and small local companies can now book one of three distinct private event packages, offering a wide range of culinary delights and drinks ideal for celebrating in style.

Guests can enjoy a variety of mouthwatering desserts from Pastry Chef Payton Williams like Key Lime Panna Cotta, Coconut Samoa and a decadent Foie Gras Cannoli. Not-to-be-missed is The Honey Hive’s signature Kinsey Cake, a honey soaked chocolate cake that is perfect for sharing amongst groups.

“Our team of incredible women is thrilled to have our dream dessert bar now open in the heart of beautiful downtown King Street,” shares Owner Angela Marino. Marino spent over 25 years traveling to Charleston, gushing over its artful history, genius culinary landscape and intoxicating southern charm before considering taking on a business venture in the city. Her countless years working in the food and beverage industry paired with slow strolls through the market, conversations with award winning chefs, inside tips from valets, and historical tours both by bike taxi as well as horse drawn carriage, helped bring the idea of opening her own late night dessert spot to life. “We hope locals and visitors alike make The Honey Hive their home for celebrations of any size with their favorite people.”

Marino’s longtime friend, Shawna Allen, also comes from a food and beverage background in Key West, and spearheads day-to-day operations.

But the party doesn’t stop at the sweets, as The Honey Hive boasts a bountiful menu of savory delights as well, like Squash Blossom Tempura, Sunchoke Cannelloni and Cheddar Gougeres. Also not-to-be-missed is The Honey Hive’s craveable new Brunch menu, offered Sundays from 12:00- 4:00 p.m., with favorites like Roasted Bone Marrow & Biscuits, Brioche Donuts, Bacon Popovers and Banana Bread Souffle Pancakes

The Honey Hive is open Monday and Wednesday from 5:30-11:00 p.m., Thursday-Saturday from 5:30 p.m.- 2:00 a.m. and Sunday from 12-9 p.m., with brunch served from 12:00-4:30 p.m. The Honey Hive is closed on Tuesdays.
