Gullah Geechee Tourism in Charleston Survey
Hey y’all!
SC native here (former James Island resident), working on my dissertation at USC. The research concerns effects of the coastal tourism industry on Gullah Geechee tour guides and their language.
I’m really interested in the experiences of both locals and tourists who have taken tours centered around Black history and the Gullah Geechee community, so would really appreciate participation if that’s something you’ve taken part in!
To participate in the survey, the only requirement is that in the last couple years you’ve taken a tour from at least one of the following companies or from the following guides in Charleston:
- Gullah Tours – Alphonso Brown
- Gullah Geechee/ Gullah Gullah Tours – Godfrey KHill
- Charleston African American Gullah Geechee Tours – Nate Hutchinson
- Sites and Insights Gullah Geechee Culture Tours – Al Miller
- Frankly Charleston Black History Tours – Franklin Williams

This is a USC IRB approved study, and mods gave permission to post.
If there are any questions, please reach out via DM.
Feel free to recommend the survey to anyone relevant who may be interested and wants to participate. Thank y’all for your help!
