Origin SC is dedicated in the fight to end homelessness in South Carolina. Through the successful efforts of our Representative Payee Program, we have expanded our services to provide rental procurement, subsidies, and supportive services in the Charleston Tri-County area.
We have assisted hundreds of individuals in the last several years to work towards self-sufficiency and financial stability. We currently have three programs:
Lease on Life
This program provides permanent supportive housing to chronically homeless individuals. Participants are disabled and have been homeless for at least a year or four times or more within the last three years.
Origin collaborates with various community agencies to help identify eligible participants for Lease on Life. We help these individuals with housing, rent subsidies, budget coaching, and wrap-around services to help them remain permanently housed while they work towards self-sufficiency and financial stability.
Shelter Plus Care – Home to Stay Program
In partnership with the City of Charleston and Charleston-Dorchester Mental Health Center, Origin receives funding through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to obtain and subsidize permanent housing for individuals who are clients of Charleston-Dorchester Mental Health Center.
