Introducing ‘Females on Fire’: A Charleston Culinary Group – A community of female business owners in Charleston collaborating in a shared experience

Owner Courtney Buckley of Your Mom’s Donuts was interested in starting a women’s group for members of Charleston’s culinary community, including restaurant owners, chefs, bakers, brewers, distillers, farmers, vendors, cookbook authors, and more, so the team at CharlotteBergerPR helped make her dream a reality.

Females on Fire was born in October of 2021, showcasing the best of the best when it comes to female culinary talent in Charleston. The group meets once a month at member’s restaurants and bars to discuss everything from the staffing crisis to where to buy the best local chicken for an upcoming event.

“Females on Fire has a three-prong purpose of unifying women in the industry, creating a path for young women wanting to enter the industry, and bringing resources like funding, business opportunities, and educational experiences to others,” shares Buckley. “We had a great turnout of around a dozen female powerhouses show up to our first event, and we are beyond excited to see what we can accomplish together.”

Karalee Fallert, the owner of All Good Industries, (which encompasses Taco Boy, Wiki Wiki Sandbar, Park & Grove, and The Royal American), was one of the first women restaurant owners to become established in Charleston and is thrilled to finally see a group like this being formed. “It’s tough to get to know other women in the local F+B industry, as many of us are business owners and moms with little free time on our ends. I’m really looking forward to having a new network through Females on Fire to bounce ideas off of, ask questions and collaborate with!”

How do I join?

If interested in being a member of Females on Fire, please email Charlotte Berger of CharlotteBergerPR at Charlottepberger@gmail.com and she can send you an invite to their next event on Nov. 17.
