About Southern Ruetz
Diving into the history-soaked bones of a former law firm and weaving them into a vibrant hat bar at the heart of Charleston’s historic district is just the beginning of the unique world we’ve built within these walls. But what truly sets us apart? It’s the heart and soul, by hand, our two local Charleston owners poured into every inch of this space (a sprawling 4,700 square feet!), a labor of love that matches the craftsmanship of our hats.
Amid the sun-drenched streets of Charleston, echoes of tales from bygone eras play on the breeze, making our decision to preserve the building’s essence a tribute to the city’s enduring charm.
Here, the blend of antiquity and modernity creates a symphony that reveres history and celebrates contemporary style. Every brick, every delicate molding, carries the weight of a rich past, while also crafting a backdrop for the present. You might notice the gentle unevenness of our floors or the play of light that’s uniquely our own—those are the quirks of our over two-century-old historic building that brims with character.
The moment you step inside, the stories of lawyers and legal echoes harmonize with the laughter and vibrant conversations of hat enthusiasts. It’s a narrative that bridges time itself.
More than a hat bar, this location is a living embodiment of Charleston’s enduring spirit, a constant reminder that each strand of the past can be woven intricately into the tapestry of our future. Join us in this journey where history and style entwine, crafting a space that’s a true testament to the city we call home.
