CHARLESTON, S.C. — Charleston Habitat for Humanity is proud to welcome Retired U.S. Marine Corps Second Lieutenant Tiffany as the newest partner family in its Veterans Build program, helping a local veteran achieve the dream of affordable homeownership.
After nearly 11 years of honorable service as a U.S. Marine Corps Logistics Officer, Tiffany continues her commitment to serving others through her work at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center. Now, with the support of Charleston Habitat for Humanity, volunteers, donors, and community partners, she is beginning a new chapter—building a safe, stable place to call home.
Raised in Brooklyn, New York, by her grandmother after being born to a teenage mother, Tiffany credits her grandmother’s love and guidance for shaping her resilience, optimism, and desire to serve others. Like many working families in the Lowcountry, she found homeownership increasingly out of reach as Charleston’s housing costs continued to rise.
“Charleston Habitat for Humanity is made up of people with golden hearts who immediately embraced me into their supportive family,” said Tiffany. “I found more than an affordable home—I found a community.”
For Tiffany, homeownership represents more than owning a house. It means having a permanent place where her family can gather, traditions can grow, and future generations can build lasting memories.
“I’m not just thanking Charleston Habitat for Humanity for myself,” she said. “I’m thanking them for the generations of my family who will make memories and holiday traditions in this home.”
Charleston Habitat’s Veterans Build program provides affordable homeownership opportunities specifically designed for veterans while fostering community, stability, and long-term financial security. Habitat homeowners invest hundreds of hours of sweat equity, complete homebuyer education courses, and purchase their homes with an affordable mortgage.
