College of Charleston Now Accessible on Common App starting September 23, 2019

Applying to the College of Charleston just got a little easier.

Starting Monday, Sept. 23, 2019, the College of Charleston will give applicants the option of applying to the College through the Common Application. The Common App is an online application program used by over 900 colleges in the United States for undergraduate admissions.

By becoming a Common App member, the College of Charleston will streamline the application process for students interested in applying to multiple institutions, and gain exposure to students who may not have otherwise considered CofC.

“We joined Common App to help simplify the college application experience for students and counselors,” said Jimmie Foster Jr., vice president of enrollment planning at the College. “Our new partnership with the Common App will help the College educate more students about the value, attainability and affordability of a College of Charleston degree.”

Students applying for college through the Common Application website will be able to submit one application – instead of having to submit multiple ones – to the schools of their choosing. Information required in the application includes class rank, SAT/ACT test scores, essays, GPA and letters of recommendation.

Last year more than 1 million students submitted 4 million applications through Common App.

“Joining Common App will make the College of Charleston more accessible to more students as well as expand the College’s reach and visibility,” said College of Charleston President Andrew T. Hsu. “Further, it will enable us to continue recruiting the best and brightest students from around the country and the world while making it easier for students to apply to the College.”
