Acclaimed Charleston Restaurant “Hank’s Seafood” to celebrate 25 years of serving the Lowcountry this February

This February Hank’s Seafood celebrates 25 years of serving classic Lowcountry dishes to the Charleston community. Beloved for its caught-that-day entrees, inviting interiors and hospitable waitstaff dressed in crisp white dinner jackets, the restaurant has been a local favorite since opening its doors in 1999. Now, its milestone 25th anniversary marks a continued chapter of reputation and relevance in Charleston’s competitive culinary scene with anniversary events, programming and new offerings.

THE HISTORY OF HANK’S

Hank’s first opened its doors on the corner of Hayne and Church Street in 1999. The turn-of-the-century warehouse building that is now Hank’s was known as “an outlandish disco” that served as “the place to see and be seen” in the late 1970s, according to Hank’s website. Hank’s Seafood Restaurant captures the convivial atmosphere that is central to Charleston’s beguiling character. The restaurant continues to draw locals and visitors alike due to its appreciation for fresh, local ingredients and authentic Lowcountry cuisine. Hank’s menu items, including She Crab soup, Charleston Oyster Stew, and its signature pan-fried crab cakes, draw customers back to the classic establishment time and time again.

“Being a part of Hank’s Restaurant and menu history has been very meaningful to experience,” says Executive Chef Tim Richardson. “Celebrating the remarkable milestone of 25 years is a testament to the unwavering support from our guests, dedicated team members and partners. I take great pride in being a part of Hank’s team and family.”

CELEBRATE THE SILVER ANNIVERSARY

To kick off its anniversary in style, Hank’s invites guests to celebrate on March 2nd with a ticketed cocktail party hosted at Hank’s Social Hall. Attendees will experience the restaurant’s history and traditions and enjoy classic Hank’s dishes, an open bar, live music and decor. Passed appetizers will include favorites like Mini Crab Cake, Tuna Tartare, Pimento Cheese fritters, Pickled Shrimp, Salmon Rillette and Caprese. Additional food stations will be set up throughout the space, serving Shrimp & Grits, She Crab Soup, Oysters and Caviar. Each guest will receive a one-of-a-kind Hank’s Seafood Restaurant Cookbook autographed by Culinary Director Frank McMahon, the mastermind behind Hank’s menu that has been delighting guests for 25 years. Tickets are $100 per person and can be purchased HERE.

WHAT’S NEW AT HANK’S

Beyond celebrating its 25th milestone this year, Hank’s plans to continue growing and serving the city of Charleston through its recently opened, elevated gathering and event space, Hank’s Social Hall, and luxury vacation rental, Hank’s Loft. With Hank’s Social Hall offering catering from Hank’s Restaurant and seating for 120 guests and the Loft offering a 3-bedroom luxury escape, both exemplify Hank’s commitment to providing guests with unique and authentic experiences for their upcoming stay or celebration in Charleston.
