Good Vibes and Delicous Burgers: That is the reason to go to Chuck & Patty’s and keep coming back

As you enter Workshop at 1503 King Street Extension, an unorthodox business is going to catch your vision in the right-hand corner. It will be filled with fluorescent signs, flashy trinkets and a signed picture of Tiffani-Amber Thiessen aka Kelly Kapowski from Saved by the Bell.

First indication is that this is not your typical corporate high-end fancy dining establishment and you are correct. What Chuck & Patty’s brings to the Lowcountry is a unique and delicious concept, fostered by proprietor Jacob Hunter and his very close team.

My first encounter with Chuck & Patty’s occurred at the 2019 Charleston Wine + Food Festival. I was in the media and vendor area and fortunate to get the final burger slider they were offering on Sunday afternoon. I walked outside and situated myself by an oak barrel table and savored that slider for ten minutes with each bite better than the last. During that time, five different sets of people came over seeking out this culinary treasure. After that experience, I had to share my story with Jacob and his lovely wife. Even while we spoke, someone asked if my half-eaten burger was available to take. That is when I knew they had something special.

I knew I had to sit down further with Jacob and hear his story. Honestly, it was quite simple. Jacob and his wife got married in Charleston and that love carried over when they decided to leave Washington, D.C. to raise a family and needed to decide where to live. Charleston became that place they would call home.

When thinking about a dining concept, Jacob wanted to pay homage to the California burger scene where some of the best burgers and vibes were born and continue to flourish. Also, being a child of the ’90s and having some of his earliest crushes on TV and film, he saw his vision come to life with his personal theme and tribute to the 1990’s.

With a combination of some great culinary training, a 90’s upbringing and a unique concept to help expand the diversity of the Charleston dining experience, Chuck & Patty’s was born and what a treat they have brought to Charleston is just under one year.

Chuck & Patty’s is for everyone; families, adults, children, business professionals or groups. Whether you want a mouthwatering burger, fries, ice cream, milkshake, vegetarian offerings, Capri-Sun (yes they have them too) with a flair for the South, New York, Pittsburgh or California, Chuck & Patty’s is here to meet all your needs and even bring you back to another more simpler time period.

Sometimes you find a place to make you smile because of the eclectic theme; other times, the food warms your heart and still, some come for the great customer service and feeling of community. Chuck & Patty’s brings that all to you and in the end, the food will keep you coming back.

Head to The Workshop for lunch or dinner and enjoy a truly fun and deliciously delightful down to earth meal.
