This Thursday, November 7, 2024 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, the town of James Island will hole a Public Information Meeting for the Proposed Road Safety Improvements to SC 171 Folly Road Project.

This is your chance as a citizen to learn more and express any concerns you may have for this proposed project that will disrupt traffic on Folly Road.
Project Overview
The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) proposes road safety improvements to the approximately 5-mile section of SC 171 (Folly Road) from (Old Folly Beach Road) to SC 700 (Maybank Highway). The project aims to improve bicycle, pedestrian and vehicular safety along the corridor.
The purpose of the project is to evaluate the safety issues and other areas of concern along the approximately 5-mile section of Folly Road, including intersections located along the route. The study identifies opportunities for improving bicycle, pedestrian and vehicular safety.
