Lowcountry Based HALOS Continues to Serve Kinship Families During COVID-19

Nonprofit is Open Virtually and has Resources to Support Families

North Charleston, SC – May 5, 2020 – HALOS, the tri-county’s only nonprofit dedicated to grandparents, other relatives and family friends who are raising children to keep them out of foster care with strangers, is still serving kinship families virtually throughout COVID-19.

“During these difficult times, HALOS is fully staffed and equipped to assist kinship families with financial challenges, the emotional impact of isolation and the added stress of working and schooling from home,” said HALOS Executive Director Kim Clifton. “No one should feel like they are alone so we want to ensure you that anyone in this situation who needs extra support can reach out directly to our office at 843-990-9570 ext. 3.”

As Mother’s Day is approaching this weekend, HALOS is reminded of all the kinship families that are parenting for a second time, or the first time, in order to keep children out of foster care and in an environment where they can flourish with close relatives or friends.
