Park Circle Pride Announces June 2024 Festival Dates and Schedule
The annual eclectic Pride Month festival celebrates their fourth year of impact
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Park Circle Pride 2024 festival, one of the most inclusive and diverse pride festivals in the South, will take place Tuesday, June 4 through Sunday, June 9 in celebration ofLBTQIA+ Pride Month and in benefit of We Are Family and Alliance For Full Acceptance (AFFA).
Produced by Vive Le Rock Productions in partnership with Park Circle Business Collective, the week-long annual event is returning for its fourth year as one of the
South’s largest and most diversely programmed Pride festivals. Park Circle Pride plans to expand theirprogramming from the previous year which included over 26 events and 22 participating businesses.
“This Pride Festival for me is not just about producing the most eclectic and diverse pride festival in the South, but also as a gay man it means everything to me to be able to celebrate our community and provide a week of events with something for all ages and interests as well as support and resources. It’s an opportunity to show to all the members of the LGBTQIA+ community that you are welcome and loved,” said Simon Cantlon, co-founder of Park Circle Pride and owner of Vive Le Rock Productions. “Park Circle Pride also shows that the neighborhood of Park Circle opens its doors to everyone and has a lot to offer.”
Park Circle Pride 2024 will continue their tradition of hosting events all around the Park Circle neighborhood of North Charleston throughout the week ranging from panels, workshops, a pride service, a queer youth fest, trivia, karaoke, live music, book fairs, drag brunches, a poetry stage, art walk and more.
“Park Circle Pride represents the gold standard of what South Carolina’s Lowcountry can offer its communities when folks come together to celebrate love, LGBTQ+ inclusion and equity, and a place of belonging for all,” said Domenico Ruggerio, executive director of We Are Family. “The week’s events offer a love letter to the LGBTQ+ community by highlighting what is possible when a neighborhood’s businesses
and people come together to support the frontline nonprofit organizations that work year-round to provide direct services, education, and advocacy to their LGBTQ+ community.”
Dawning the tagline “you being you makes us, us,” Park Circle Pride is unique compared to traditional pride festivals. Park Circle Pride exists because of the collective action of their neighborhood, not a governing organization.
“As we eagerly anticipate Park Circle Pride, we’re filled with excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to see our community come together once again to commemorate and celebrate Pride,” said Chase Glenn, executive director of the Alliance For Full Acceptance. “It’s truly inspiring that this week of events not only creates space to celebrate the beautiful tapestry of our community, but also raises money that fuels the
essential work of the local organizations who are in the trenches tirelessly working for the rights and well-being of LGBTQ+ people of all ages across our state.”
Park Circle Pride 2024 plans to host over 40 inclusive events for all ages throughout the week and the majority of all scheduled events are free to attend with a select number of ticketed events. Park Circle Pride will commence with a Pride flag raising and kickoff at Commonhouse Aleworks in Park Circle on Tuesday, June 4.
“Park Circle Pride exists as an ethos of this community and is a celebration of our collective humanity,” said Pearce Fleming, co-founder of Park Circle Pride, member of Park Circle Business Collective andproprietor of Commonhouse Aleworks. “To be able to support and celebrate our community with a festival that unites us in every sense of the term is something completely unique to our neighborhood.”
