Using data from Vio.com and TripAdvisor, Vio.com uncovered where ghostly encounters are more likely and which hotels are buzzing with eerie activity.
- Charleston, South Carolina, has the 6th most haunted hotels in the U.S.
- Myrtle Beach (18th) and Columbia (34th) also have among the most haunted hotels
- For every 1,000 guests staying in Charleston, 2.23 mentioned haunted activity, and 2.46 mentioned paranormal activity
- For every 1,000 guests staying in Myrtle Beach, 1.55 mentioned haunted activity, and 0.26 mentioned paranormal activity
- For every 1,000 guests staying in Columbia, 1.39 mentioned haunted activity, and 0.3 mentioned paranormal activity
- 9.6% of hotels in Charleston are considered haunted or paranormal, followed by Myrtle Beach (6.8%) and Columbia (4.2)
