Charleston Sprint Triathlon Series Race #1

This landmark series includes a 600-yard swim, a 12-mile bike ride, and a 5K run. Participants are divided into: Open / Elite, Masters Open / Elite (Open/Elite competitors over the age of 40), Age Group, Clydesdale (men 220 pounds or greater), and Athena (women 165 pounds or greater). Yoga Fest

The Summer Solstice is a time to reconnect with each other and nature as the sun rises to the highest point in the sky. Join us to celebrate summer and community in this family friendly yoga event. Guests will enjoy a performance by Acro, Charleston SC and live music by reggae sensation, Mystic Vibrations starting at 6 p.m. Yoga begins at 6:30 p.m. A kids yoga class provided by Empowered Minds will be offered concurrently. Embark on the next level of climbing mastery with our “Lead Climbing Essentials” class, tailored for those ready to elevate their skills and conquer new heights. This dynamic course delves into the intricacies of lead climbing, focusing on advanced techniques, risk management, and mental resilience. Our expert instructors will guide you through the fundamentals of clipping, rope management, and route reading, preparing you to take the lead on both indoor and outdoor climbs. In order to gain the most knowledge from this class, you should be able to climb a 5.9 route.

Lighthouse Inlet Bird Walk

Lighthouse Inlet Heritage Preserve
This walk focuses on the incredibly diverse northeast end of Folly Island. Once the home of a Coast Guard station, this Heritage Preserve protects maritime forest, beach, dune, and marsh habitats for wildlife. This site boasts one of the largest bird lists in South Carolina. At this time of year, we hope to see spring arrivals such as Painted Buntings and Wilson’s Plovers, plus much more.

Understanding the Rice Culture

Caw Caw Interpretive Center
To talk about land in the Lowcountry is an automatic invite to talk about rice, who grew it, where it came from, and how the cultivation changed the landscape in ways that are still evident today. Caw Caw Interpretive Center provides one of the best local looks in the Lowcountry. Accessible parking, accessible restrooms, accessible water fountains, and accessible picnic tables are available at the Welcome Center where the program begins and ends. The park includes natural, unpaved trails that are mostly flat. The program route is a loop and benches are available along the trail route. The program speed is moderately slow and includes periods of standing.

Hummingbirds have captured our hearts with their tiny size, brilliant colors and their swift acrobatics. Join us as we learn all about these magnificent creatures and their lives in the fast lane .Accessible parking is available. Accessible restrooms, water fountains and picnic tables are all available near the Welcome Center where program begins and ends. The park includes natural, unpaved trails that are mostly flat. The program route is a short loop, and benches are available along the trail route. The majority of the program will take place in an open-aired shelter at the picnic area and in climate-controlled classroom.

Did you know dolphins often work as a team to harvest fish schools and they also hunt individually? Join a naturalist to learn more about Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins and their unique feeding strategies like strand-feeding. Accessible parking is available and accessible restrooms and accessible water fountains are available near the Dunes House where the program begins and ends. An accessible route to a natural sand beach is present and beach wheelchairs are available for checkout on a first come, first served basis. The program route is out and back along a sandy beach where no benches are available. The walk is approximately a mile total, and the walking speed is slow. The program will require periods of standing.

Summer is a great time to explore the beach. Join an experienced naturalist to familiarize yourself with many species that may be found there. We’ll search for artifacts and living creatures along the beach such as molluscs, sponges, corals, and more. Share in the discovery by learning intriguing stories about adaptations that allow for life near the ocean. Accessible parking, accessible restrooms, and water fountains are available near the Dunes House where the program begins and ends. An accessible route to a natural sand beach is present and beach wheelchairs are available for checkout on a first come, first served basis. This is a very physically demanding program in which students are required to participate in running, ocean swimming, and lifeguarding drills. First-time participants must pass a 75-yard swim test prior to the first day of the session. Swim tests are scheduled at Palmetto Islands County Park in Mt. Pleasant at Splash Island at 9am on May 25 and June 8, and at James Island County Park at Splash Zone at 9am on June 1 and June 15. Minimum enrollment required two weeks prior to the first day. Jr. Lifeguard II (12-13) at Isle of Palms County Park
Mon., June 2 – Fri. June 6, 1-week session, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Isle of Palms County Park
Participants will become familiar with aquatic environments, its hazards, and the demands of the job of a lifeguard. Junior Lifeguards will be actively involved with CCPRC beach and waterpark lifeguards, learning the basics of aquatic rescue. This is a very physically demanding program in which students are required to participate in running, ocean swimming, and lifeguarding drills. First-time participants must pass a 75-yard swim test prior to the first day of the session. Swim tests are scheduled at Palmetto Islands County Park in Mt. Pleasant at Splash Island at 9am on May 25 and June 8, and at James Island County Park at Splash Zone at 9am on June 1 and June 15.
