It’s official: The 2026 World Cup final will be hosted at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium, FIFA announced Sunday. The $1.6 billion venue — about 10 miles from Manhattan and home to the New York Giants and the New York Jets — beat out locations in Dallas and Los Angeles. Dallas will still host nine games at the tournament, while L.A. will host the U.S.’s opening game. The expanded 48-nation tournament is set to be spread across three countries for the first time, with 78 matches in the U.S. and 13 each in Canada and Mexico.
- Toronto’s BMO Field will host Canada’s first game.
- Mexico City will host the opening game.
- MetLife Stadium held the 2014 Super Bowl and the 2016 Copa América Centenario final.
